Christmas Pilgrimage

A beautiful December day with the sun shining on us helped us on our way as we walked to three churches in the Springline Parish as part of our Christmas Pilgrimage – a spiritual journey.

Alongside carols at all three churches and a story that we read along the way, at Scampton Church we learnt about the stained glass windows and the different squadrons that have their badges in the chapel there. At North Carlton Church we learnt about the ‘Black Death’ and its impact on the village as well as Henry VIII’s association with the village. We put baubles on the tree before moving on to South Carlton via the site of Middle Carlton which was wiped out by the ‘Black Death’. We visited South Carlton School before arriving at the church for the final part of the story, a carol and mince pies.
